Launched in 2008, the Malaysian homegrown festival, FEYST: Independent Youth Festival provides an essential creative platform for youth to express, showcase and share their talents. This year, the all-day concert will benefit Mercy Malaysia and aims to raise awareness and engage youth in cause-related events. This fifth installation by marketing communication agency Go International Group Sdn Bhd encourages young talents to play a part in the fundraising by showcasing their music, art or any other skills like beat boxing or dance.

“As keen supporters of the independent music industry since 2002, we have been organizing monthly community events since 2002. We created FEYST as a creative platform, to bring people together in an open space and encourage networking amongst the creative groups. We believe that by providing room for face-to-face interaction, collaborations can happen and as a result, a bright future for a passionate and creative Malaysia,” said Jasmine Low, Managing Director of Go International Group.

The all day event will feature Oh Chentaku, Shh…Diam!, Fazz, Amrita Soon (pictured), Abstrak Hingga Ke Bulan, Doppelganger Acoustic Stage hosted by Ray Cheong, a special appearance by Star Wars characters and a multi-disciplinary event – Numinous, hosted by Sheena Baharuddin, which will feature poetry, Capoiera, spoken word performances, short film screening and live acoustic acts. A Charity Fashion Bazaar by Mercy Malaysia brings dozens of desirable fashion items up for grabs. In addition, The BIG Group will sponsor hot dogs and cranberry coolers and all proceeds will go towards Mercy Malaysia as well!

Since the launch of the fifth FEYST’12 Independent Youth Festival on 28 September at Central Market Kuala Lumpur, a whirlwind of events has taken place. FEYST has featured over 50 acts at 20 events; encompassing music, video gaming and film screenings from Central Market to DoPPel Kafe, Universiti Malaya to Panggung Anniversari at Taman Tasik Perdana in Kuala Lumpur. This year’s festival partners include venue sponsors Publika and MAP, The BIG Group, Moo Cow Frozen Yogurt, Trivia Studios and Canon.

FEYST12 Festival Finale @ Publika has an event listing that combines the best of acoustic music in Malaysia. The event is held on 15 December 2012 at Publika Square from 12.00pm-9.00pm and is free for all. Visit http://www.feyst.com for more information, or join the Facebook community.
